At a glance

  • Your scan results never leave your PC. The IP addresses, MAC addresses, device names, BACnet data and MS/TP captures the MultiTool finds stay on your computer. We never receive them unless you choose to email them to us.
  • No accounts, no tracking. The website has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and sets no cookies of its own. The program sends no usage statistics.
  • We collect only what a sale and a license need: your name, email address, company if you give one, your PayPal transaction details, and the details in your activation request, including a scrambled (hashed) fingerprint of your PC's hardware.
  • PayPal handles your payment. We never see or store your card or bank details.
  • We never sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
  • Ask us anything: [email protected]

1. Who we are

JustPeachy is a software business run by James Bourell, an independent controls engineer based in Illinois, USA. It makes and sells the JustPeachy IP and BACnet MultiTool ("the MultiTool" or "the program"). In this statement, "JustPeachy", "we", "us" and "our" mean that business. "You" means anyone who visits the website, buys a product key or uses the program.

We decide what information is collected and how it is used, so we are responsible for it. Questions and requests go to [email protected].

2. What this statement covers

This statement covers:

  • the website at justpeachytools.com, including the download page and this page;
  • buying a product key through the website and PayPal, and ordering seat packs by email;
  • emails you send to or receive from [email protected] and [email protected];
  • activating, renewing and moving a license; and
  • the MultiTool program itself, as downloaded from justpeachytools.com.

It does not cover the websites and services of other companies, such as PayPal, even when we link to them. They have their own privacy policies, which we point to below.

3. The website

What the site itself collects

Nothing that identifies you. justpeachytools.com is a set of plain web pages. It has no sign-in, no analytics or visitor-counting scripts, no advertising, no social media buttons and no tracking pixels, and it sets no cookies of its own.

The order form

The "Order your key" form runs entirely inside your browser. When you type your name, company, email and seat count, the page writes your order text on screen and copies it to your clipboard when you click Copy order. Nothing you type in the form is sent to us or anyone else. We only receive your order if you choose to paste it into an email to [email protected]. Leaving the page discards it.

Companies that deliver the website

Like every website, ours relies on a few service providers to reach your browser. They receive the technical information any web request carries: your IP address, your browser and operating system type, the page requested and the time.

ProviderWhat it does for usWhat it receives
Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages)Hosts the website and the program download and protects it from attacks.Standard request data (IP address, browser details, pages and files requested, time). Cloudflare may use security cookies or checks to tell people from bots. We don't receive visitor logs that identify individuals.
Google LLC (Google Fonts)Supplies the typefaces the pages are shown in.Your browser asks Google's font servers for the font files, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google describes how it handles these requests in its Google Fonts privacy FAQ, and says the Fonts service doesn't set cookies.

When you click a PayPal button, you leave our site for PayPal's. What happens there is covered in the next section and by PayPal's own privacy statement.

4. Buying a product key

Paying with PayPal

Payments are made on PayPal's own checkout pages. You can pay with a PayPal account, Venmo, Pay Later or a card, depending on what PayPal offers you. PayPal collects your payment details. We never see, receive or store your card number, bank account or PayPal password.

After you pay, PayPal sends us a payment notification. It usually contains:

  • your name and the email address on your PayPal account;
  • what you bought, for example "JustPeachy MultiTool – Full (2 months)";
  • the amount, currency, date and PayPal transaction ID;
  • for subscriptions, the PayPal subscription ID and the dates of each monthly payment; and
  • sometimes a billing or postal address, if PayPal includes one. We don't need or use addresses, since nothing is shipped.

PayPal's handling of your information is described in the PayPal Privacy Statement at paypal.com.

Subscriptions

When you subscribe, PayPal stores the payment method and charges it each month. You can cancel at any time in your PayPal account's automatic payments settings, or by emailing us. We can see that a subscription is active or cancelled and when each payment arrives, but we can't see or change your payment method.

Seat packs and invoices

For packs of two or more seats, you email us your order and we send a PayPal invoice. We then have the details you put in your email, typically your name, company, email address and number of seats, plus the invoice and payment details from PayPal.

Refunds

Refunds are made through PayPal. We record the refund against your product key, and the key is usually cancelled.

5. Email and support

Our email addresses (orders@, support@ and [email protected]) are hosted by Google Workspace. When you email us, we receive and keep what you send: your name, your email address, the message, and any attachments, such as an activation request file, a screenshot or a capture.

We use your email only to answer you, deliver your product key and license files, and help with problems. We don't add you to a mailing list or send marketing unless you ask us to. Google processes our mailbox on our behalf under its business terms. It does not use the content of Google Workspace email for advertising.

Before sending us screenshots or capture files, look at what they show. A screenshot of a scan can reveal your site's IP addresses, device names and network layout. Send only what you're allowed to share, and blur anything you'd rather we didn't see. We use support files only to solve your problem, and we don't pass them to anyone.

6. Activation, licenses and your PC's hardware

Each license is locked to one PC so that a key bought for one seat works on one computer. To do that, the program builds an activation request when you enter your product key. The request contains exactly the following, and nothing else:

ItemWhat it isWhy it's needed
Product keyThe key from your purchase email, for example JPF-7K2QD-…To find your purchase and edition.
Hardware fingerprint (hashed)Up to six short codes, one each for: the Windows installation ID (MachineGuid), the system drive's volume serial number, the computer's UUID, the motherboard serial number, the processor ID and the BIOS serial number. Each value is scrambled with a one-way SHA-256 hash before it leaves the program, so the request contains codes such as 3f9a…, never the real serial numbers. They can't be turned back into the serial numbers.To lock the license to this PC and recognise it again later, while still allowing one or two parts to change.
Machine IDA short code such as E14A-0A92-8001-C82E, made from the hashed fingerprint. It's shown on the program's License tab.So you and we can refer to "this PC" in support emails.
PC nameThe computer's network name as set in Windows, for example TECH-LAPTOP-07. This is not hashed.So you can tell your PCs apart when moving a license between laptops.
Windows versionFor example "Windows-11-10.0.22631-SP0".Support and troubleshooting.
Program version, date and timeFor example "1.0.0-beta" and when the request was made, plus a random number.Support, and to tell requests apart.

You can see the full request before sending it: it's shown on screen, and you can save it as a file. Offline activation, the method used today, means you email this request to support@ yourself. Online activation, if we switch it on in a later version, would send the same request directly to our activation server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, together with your IP address as part of the connection. This statement will be updated before that happens.

Your license file

We reply with a license file (.jplic), digitally signed so it can't be altered. It contains your product key, edition, number of seats, the dates it runs between, your name and company as given at purchase, your PayPal transaction ID, the hashed fingerprint and machine ID of your PC, and a license number. It lives on your PC (see the next section) and is only read by the program.

Moving a license

To move a license to another PC, you send us the machine IDs of the old and new PCs. We mark the old PC's seat as released in our records and activate the new one.

7. The program on your PC

What it sends over the internet

The MultiTool has no telemetry, usage tracking, crash reporting or advertising. The only times it connects to the internet are:

  • Downloading the IEEE vendor list (the public list that matches MAC addresses to manufacturers) from standards-oui.ieee.org, run by the IEEE. The list is built into the program; the program fetches a fresh copy only if it's missing, or when you click Download IEEE list. IEEE's servers receive your IP address and a note that the request comes from the MultiTool, and nothing else.
  • Online activation, only if it is switched on in a future version (see section 6).

Links to other sites, for example Npcap's website for the Switch Port tool, open in your browser only when you click them.

What it keeps on your PC

WhatWhereContents
License files%APPDATA%\JustPeachy\MultiTool\*.jplicYour signed license(s), described in section 6.
Date check%APPDATA%\JustPeachy\MultiTool\state.dat and the Windows registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JustPeachy\MultiTool\SeenThe latest date and time the program has seen, so it can tell if the clock is wound back to stretch a license. No personal information.
Settings.ip_scanner_settings.json in your user folderYour preferences, such as the BBMD address you last used.
Schedules.ip_scanner_schedules.json in your user folderScheduled scans you set up: name, network range, interval and the folder for results.
Vendor list.ip_scanner_oui.csv in your user folderThe public IEEE manufacturer list.
Exports and scheduled resultsWherever you choose to save themCSV files of scan results, only when you export them or set up a schedule.

None of these files are sent to us. To remove everything, delete the program file, the %APPDATA%\JustPeachy folder, the three .ip_scanner_* files in your user folder and the registry key above. If you delete the license files, you'll need to activate again.

8. The networks you scan

The MultiTool's job is to look at networks: it sends pings, briefly tries common network ports, reads your PC's ARP table, asks devices for their names (through your own DNS server), asks BACnet devices to identify themselves, reads devices' built-in web page titles, listens for switch announcements (LLDP/CDP) and records MS/TP traffic from a serial adapter. Everything it finds, including IP and MAC addresses, hostnames, device names, models, firmware versions, open services and captured frames, is shown on your screen and kept only on your PC. JustPeachy never receives it.

Because these scans touch other people's equipment, the End User License Agreement requires you to scan only networks you own or have permission to work on, and to follow the site owner's rules. You are responsible for any network information you collect, export or share.

9. Our license records

We keep a license ledger on James Bourell's own computer. It is not stored on the website or any online server. It holds:

  • Customers and keys: product key, edition, seats, months paid, your name, company, email address, order or PayPal transaction ID, PayPal subscription ID if any, price paid, any notes we add (for example "moved to a new laptop"), and whether the key is active or cancelled.
  • Activations: for each PC: machine ID, hashed hardware fingerprint, PC name, Windows version, program version, when it was first and last activated, and whether its seat is in use or released.
  • Payments: the date, amount, months and transaction ID of each sale and renewal.
  • History: a dated log of what happened to each key: created, license issued, renewed, seat released, cancelled, and requests we turned down and why, including the PC name and machine ID in the request.

The ledger is our record of every license we've issued. It's built so that history entries can't be erased, which protects you and us if there's ever a dispute over a purchase. The contact details on a key can still be corrected or removed (see section 14).

10. How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  • sell you a product key and send it to you;
  • issue, renew, move and cancel licenses, and prevent one key being used on more PCs than were paid for;
  • answer your questions and fix problems;
  • process refunds and handle PayPal disputes;
  • keep business, accounting and tax records;
  • protect the website and the licensing system from fraud and abuse; and
  • meet legal obligations.

We may email you about your purchase, for example your key, license files, a subscription renewal, an important fix, or a change to these terms. We won't send you marketing unless you've asked for it, and you can say no at any time.

We don't sell your information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, build advertising profiles, or make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

11. Who we share it with

We share information only with these companies that work for us, and only what each needs:

CompanyPurposeTheir privacy information
PayPalPayments, subscriptions, invoices, refundsPayPal Privacy Statement
Google (Google Workspace, Google Fonts)Our email; the website's typefacesGoogle Privacy Policy
CloudflareWebsite and download hosting, security, our domain nameCloudflare Privacy Policy

We may also share information:

  • with an accountant, tax preparer or lawyer who advises us, who must keep it confidential;
  • with the company that bought the seats, if you activated a key from your employer's seat pack. The buyer can see which of its seats are in use, including PC names and machine IDs;
  • when the law requires it, such as a valid court order or subpoena, or to protect our rights or someone's safety; and
  • with a new owner if the JustPeachy business or product is sold or transferred. This statement would continue to apply to what was collected under it, and we'd tell you before your information came under a different policy.

12. How long we keep it

InformationHow long
Purchase and payment recordsSeven years after the year of the sale, which covers US tax record rules, and longer while the key is still in use.
License ledger (keys, activations, history)For as long as the license could be used or questioned, then as long as needed for the records above. On request we remove your contact details once they're no longer needed.
Support emails and attachmentsUp to three years after the conversation ends, unless they're part of a purchase or dispute record. Screenshots and capture files are deleted once your issue is solved, if you ask.
Order emails for unpaid ordersUp to one year.
Website request dataKept by Cloudflare under its own policy. We don't keep website visitor logs.

13. Security

  • Hardware details are hashed in the program before they're sent, so we never receive your real serial numbers.
  • Licenses are signed with a private key that is kept offline. It is never put on the website or in the program, and its backups are kept in private storage. The program checks every license against our public key, so licenses can't be forged or altered.
  • The license ledger is kept on James Bourell's own computer, not online, with private backups.
  • The website and the download are served only over encrypted HTTPS. The download page lists the program file's SHA-256 checksum, so you or your IT team can confirm the file hasn't been changed.
  • Our email accounts are protected by Google Workspace's account security, including two-step sign-in.

No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we'll tell you and any authorities as the law requires, including under Illinois's Personal Information Protection Act.

14. Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • See the information we hold about you, and get a copy in a common format;
  • Correct information that's wrong, such as a misspelled name or a changed email address;
  • Delete your information. We'll remove what we can. Some purchase and license records must be kept for tax law or to protect your license, so we'll tell you what we have to keep and why, and remove your contact details from it where possible;
  • Stop any optional emails; and
  • Release a PC's seat, so its details are marked as no longer in use.

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address you bought with, or tell us your product key. We may ask you to confirm it's you before acting. We'll reply within 30 days, and there's no charge. You can also have someone you authorise make a request for you. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, such as California, have these rights by law, and we won't treat you differently for using them.

Because the website doesn't track you, there is nothing for a browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We treat both as a request not to sell or share your information, which we don't do anyway.

15. Children

The MultiTool is a professional tool for adults working on building and computer networks. The website and products aren't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

16. Where information is processed

JustPeachy is based in the United States. Our records are kept in the US, and our service providers may process information in the US and other countries where they operate. If you buy from outside the US, your information is transferred to the US, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

17. Changes to this statement

We'll update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, for example before switching on online activation. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we'll also note it on the website and email customers with active subscriptions before it takes effect.
